The questions people ask before they trust something with their documents. Anything missing, just ask us directly.

Is my data really never sent anywhere?
On the download tier, yes. Your documents, your knowledge base and every conversation stay on your machine. With the internet toggle off, the app blocks all outbound network traffic from the model at the system level — it isn’t a setting the model can talk its way around, because the ability to reach the internet simply isn’t given to it. On the hosted tier your documents live on our servers instead, which we’re upfront about: choose download if that distinction matters to you.
Do I need to know anything technical?
No. There’s no command line, no config file and no model downloading to manage. You answer questions in plain English, upload files the way you’d attach them to an email, and end up with an installer that works like any other app. If you can install a program, you can do this.
Will it run on my computer?
Almost certainly. We check your hardware during setup and recommend a model that suits it. Machines with 8–16GB of RAM run our smaller recommendation comfortably; 16–32GB opens up the larger models for bigger document collections. If your computer genuinely can’t handle it, we’ll tell you honestly and point you at hosting instead.
What happens if Ngaro shuts down?
Your downloaded AI keeps working. It has no dependency on us once it’s installed — the model, your knowledge base and the app all live on your machine. That’s a deliberate design decision, not an accident. Hosted AIs would need migrating, which is one of the trade-offs of choosing hosting.
How do credits actually work?
Credits pay for the work of building your AI, not for using it. A single research step costs one credit; processing a document costs two to three; a complete build costs eight to twelve. Before anything runs you see a plan with the estimated cost and have to approve it. Credits are deducted on completion, not on start, and refunded automatically if something fails on our end. Plan credits reset monthly; credits you buy separately roll over and never expire.
Is this as good as ChatGPT or Claude?
For general-purpose reasoning, the largest cloud models still have an edge. But for the job this does — answering questions grounded in your own documents — open-weight models are genuinely excellent, and your AI has an advantage no cloud model has: it actually knows your material, persistently, without you pasting it in every time.
Can I change my AI after it’s built?
Yes. Add or remove documents, rename sources, change its name, tone or rules, and flip the internet toggle — all from the settings panel inside the app. On the download tier that happens entirely on your device, because we bundle everything needed to process new documents locally. No internet connection required to teach it something new.
Do you train on my documents?
No — and we couldn’t even if we wanted to. We don’t retrain or fine-tune models at all. Your documents are stored in a searchable index and consulted at the moment you ask a question. On the download tier that index never leaves your disk, so there’s nothing for us to train on.
